About Us

History

The 1st Larch Farm Scout Group was started in1965 by Les and Gladys Gough, at about the same time the village of Ravenshead in Nottinghamshire was created.

Initially they met in a barn at Larch Farm before it was a pub, hence the name, but in 1971 moved to their own premises on Main Road in Ravenshead. In 2001 following a long fundraising campaign a new purpose built Scout HQ replaced the old building. This is known as Ravens Lodge.

We have a Ravens head on our necker in honour of our village.

Who Are We?

We are a rural village Scout Group based in Ravenshead. We run sections for young people from the age of 4 to 14 and are fully inclusive for everyone.

Our aim is to provide outdoor activities, challenges and adventures in a safe environment, whilst working through The Scout Associations programme of badges and awards for all sections. We also work with the older Scouts on the Duke of Edinburgh’s awards.

Our team of volunteers support about 140 young people in Ravenshead and the surrounding area at the moment. But we need more volunteers so the Group can offer scouting to all those on our waiting lists who would love the opportunity to join our adventure.

Our Sections

  • Squirrels (4 – 6 years old)
  • Beavers (6 – 8 years old)
  • Cubs (8 – 10 years old)
  • Scouts (10 ½ – 14 years old)
  • Adult Volunteers 18+ – we can’t do it without you
